πŸ‘‹ Hello there, I’m Christian!

Hello and welcome to my portfolio!

Product Analytics

I’m Christian Magliano, a Product Analyst with a PhD in Astrophysics and a strong quantitative background.

I currently work at the intersection of Product, Data and Marketing, using data to understand how users interact with digital products, identify opportunities for improvement and support product and business decisions.

My work covers the entire analytics lifecycle: from tracking and data collection to analysis, experimentation, visualization and communication of insights to stakeholders.

Some of the areas I work on include:

  • πŸ“Š Product Analytics β€” analyzing user behaviour, funnels, retention, conversion and feature adoption to understand how people interact with digital products.
  • πŸ§ͺ Experimentation β€” designing and analyzing A/B tests and product experiments to measure the impact of new features and UX changes.
  • πŸ“ˆ Acquisition & Attribution β€” analyzing acquisition channels, marketing performance and user journeys across web and mobile.
  • 🎯 Funnel & Conversion Analysis β€” identifying friction points and opportunities across complex multi-step customer journeys.
  • πŸ“‰ Business Intelligence β€” building dashboards and reporting systems to make product and marketing performance accessible to stakeholders.
  • βš™οΈ Automation & Data β€” writing Python and SQL scripts, working with REST APIs and building automated workflows and data pipelines.
  • πŸ”Ž Tracking & Measurement β€” defining events, properties and measurement frameworks across web and mobile products.

My daily toolkit includes Python, SQL, Mixpanel, Power BI, GA4, Firebase, Google Tag Manager, Adjust, Meta Ads and Google Ads, alongside other analytics and data tools.

What I enjoy most is going beyond what happened to understand why it happened, what we can learn from it, and what we should do next.

πŸ” From Astrophysics to Product Analytics

Before moving into Product Analytics, I completed a PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Naples Federico II, where my research focused primarily on exoplanets and the scientific exploitation of the PLATO space mission.

Astrophysics

Research taught me how to approach ambiguous problems, work with complex datasets, formulate and test hypotheses, and communicate results clearly.

These skills turned out to be surprisingly transferable to Product Analytics: the subject changed from planets and stars to users and digital products, but the underlying process remains very similar β€” observe, formulate hypotheses, analyze data, test and learn.

You can find my academic work on the Publications page.

πŸ› οΈ Technical Stack

Product Analytics: Mixpanel, Google Analytics 4, Firebase
Business Intelligence: Power BI, Metabase, Zoho Analytics
Tracking: Google Tag Manager
Marketing & Attribution: Adjust, Google Ads, Meta Ads
Data & Programming: Python, SQL (PostgreSQL), R, Jupyter Notebook
Automation: REST APIs, API integrations, automated data pipelines and workflow automation

I’m particularly interested in Product Analytics, experimentation, behavioral data and data-driven product development, as well as the intersection between product analytics and acquisition.

Some of my personal and technical projects are available in my Portfolio and GitHub repositories.
